The most advanced and well-engineered Rotor Quick-Change system

The Rotor Quick-Change system developed by MGM Power is designed to transfer maximum power with minimal wear. Thanks to this innovative system, complete rotor sets can be changed quickly and easily, allowing the same star screening bucket to be adapted to a different application or desired screening fraction in a short amount of time. Unlike many conventional systems, the complete drive system or bearings do not need to be dismantled. This significantly reduces conversion time, lowers maintenance costs and increases machine availability.

The unique MGM coupling system stands out due to its significantly larger contact surface compared with similar systems. By distributing the forces across a larger contact surface, contact pressure and wear are greatly reduced. As a result, the fit remains virtually wear-free even after many rotor changes, while the rotors retain their precise alignment. This ensures a long service life for both the rotors and the drive system and provides reliable and accurate machine operation for many years.

Construction of the MGM Power star screening bucket

1. MGM Valve technology
Virtually all MGM star screening buckets are equipped with the unique MGM Valve technology.
This integrated hydraulic protection system protects the machine against incorrectly connected hydraulic hoses and makes it possible to operate the star screening bucket with just two hydraulic hoses.
This ensures easy connection, reduces the risk of malfunctions and increases operational reliability.

2. High-quality hydraulic drive
All MGM star screening buckets are equipped with powerful hydraulic motors selected for reliability, high torque and a long service life.

From the VM3-135 onwards, as many as two hydraulic motors are used.
This distributes the drive power across both sides of the machine, resulting in higher available torque, an even drive and maximum performance under demanding conditions.

3. Suitable for different carrier machines
The MGM star screening buckets are available for mini excavators, wheeled excavators, tracked excavators, wheel loaders and loaders. With 15 different models, there is always a suitable solution for your machine.

4. Hardox stars
The stars are manufactured from wear-resistant Hardox steel, giving them a long service life and making them suitable for intensive applications.
As standard, for screening sizes from 15 mm upwards, these discs are made from 15/16 mm thick plates, providing a longer service life and making them better suited to wetter materials.

5. Straight rotor configuration
The stars are positioned in a straight line on the shafts. This creates an even material flow and allows the machine to maintain a high capacity even with moist or heavy materials. When arranged in a spiral, the material tends to roll more quickly over the discs, which reduces capacity.

6. Transport provisions
All models are equipped with integrated lifting and lashing points for safe lifting and transport.

7. MGM Rotor Quick-Change system
The Rotor Quick-Change system developed by MGM Power makes it possible to change different rotor configurations quickly and easily. This allows one star screening bucket to be used for multiple screening fractions and applications, while keeping downtime to a minimum.

8. Banana-shaped shaft arrangement
The shafts are positioned at an angle relative to each other. This creates a curve that causes the material to rotate.

9. Cleaning combs
The specially developed cleaning combs keep the stars free from adhering material. This ensures optimal screening performance, even with moist soil, compost and other sticky materials.

Application examples for MGM Power star screening buckets

Equipped with screening rotors
MGM Power star screening buckets with screening rotors are developed for efficiently separating reusable material from unwanted coarse fractions.
Suitable for applications including:

  • Removing stones, branches, roots, turf and waste from reusable soil or topsoil.
  • Screening and simultaneously mixing compost, sand, substrates and other raw materials.
  • Screening coarse stones from excavated soil to create a reusable fraction for applications such as road foundations or backfilling.
  • Separating stones and rubble from mixed soil after demolition and earthmoving work.
  • Pre-processing lumpy soil before it enters a stationary screening installation, increasing throughput and reducing blockages.
  • Cleaning compost and biomass by separating plastic, branches and other coarse contaminants.

Equipped with mixing and crushing rotors
With mixing and crushing rotors, a single machine can be used for mixing, crushing, aerating and preparing different materials.
Suitable for applications including:

  • Mixing lime, binders or other additives into soil to dry or stabilise the material.
  • Mixing soil with compost, sand, substrates or other soil types, while breaking down lumps at the same time.
  • Aerating, turning and loosening compost, biomass and organic waste.
  • Separating branches, roots and other parts that cannot be reduced any further.
  • Pre-processing lumpy soil for a subsequent screening stage, allowing the screening installation to be loaded more evenly and efficiently.

Thanks to the different rotor configurations and the MGM Rotor Quick-Change system, one star screening bucket can easily be adapted to different materials, required fractions and applications.

Hardox stars for maximum service life

The stars of the MGM Power star screening buckets are manufactured from high-quality Hardox wear-resistant steel.
This material is known for its exceptional wear resistance and high strength, allowing the rotors to continue performing for long periods even under the most demanding conditions.
Thanks to their robust construction, the stars are able to withstand intensive loads when processing soil, compost, rubble, biomass and other materials.

If wear occurs after prolonged use, the aggressive rotor blades can easily be rebuilt by welding.
This significantly extends their service life and keeps maintenance costs low.
In combination with the MGM Rotor Quick-Change system, complete rotor configurations can also be changed quickly for a different application or required screening fraction.
This ensures maximum availability, minimal downtime and a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

MGM Power – The Power to lead

Innovative MGM Rotor Quick-Change system

The Rotor Quick-Change system developed by MGM Power makes it possible to change complete rotor sets quickly and easily. This allows the same star screening bucket to be adapted to another application or required screening fraction within a short period of time, without dismantling the complete drive system or bearings.

The unique coupling system stands out because the fit remains virtually wear-free, even after many rotor changes. As a result, the rotors retain their precise alignment and the machine continues to perform reliably for many years. In addition, the system is designed so that no screening surface is lost to coupling components or adapters, allowing the full rotor width to remain available for maximum capacity.

Large bucket capacity for maximum productivity

Spend less time handling material, spend more time screening
High productivity is not determined solely by the rotors or drive system. The bucket capacity of the star screening bucket is at least as important. The larger the bucket capacity, the less often the operator has to scoop up and discharge material. As a result, a greater proportion of working time is actually spent screening material, significantly increasing total production.

When developing the MGM star screening buckets, great attention was therefore paid to the balance between bucket capacity, rotor surface and carrier machine. The machine can be filled optimally without restricting material flow. This allows the material to be processed evenly across the full rotor width and ensures that the available screening capacity is utilised to the maximum.

A large bucket capacity not only provides higher capacity per cycle, but also reduces excavator movements, lowers fuel consumption and reduces wear on both the carrier machine and the attachment. It is precisely this combination of efficient material flow, large bucket capacity and optimal use of the screening surface that makes MGM star screening buckets a productive solution for professional daily use.
