Screening Explosives and Ammunition with the MGM Screening Bucket by ECG

On 6 February 2026, Explosive Clearance Group (ECG) put its new MGM screening bucket into operation. The screening bucket is used for the careful detection and clearance of ammunition and explosives across a wide range of projects.

Prior to the purchase, ECG had rented the screening bucket for multiple projects and tested it extensively in practice. Because the machine performed well and matched the specialist nature of the work, the company decided to invest in its own unit.

Special rotor for controlled material movement

For this application, the screening bucket is equipped with a specially developed rotor. This rotor processes and separates the material with as little unnecessary movement as possible. This is of great importance in operations where ammunition or explosives may be present in the ground.

Thanks to its controlled operation, the soil can be screened carefully, while larger objects and suspicious materials remain visible and separated. This allows ECG to inspect the material in a targeted way and handle it further in a controlled manner.

Suitable for different excavators

The screening bucket had to be deployable on both the Kobelco 210 tracked excavator and the Atlas mobile excavators used by ECG. Because of this combination of excavators and the required capacity, the MGM VM3-95 proved to be the right choice.

This allows ECG to use the screening bucket flexibly across different projects, without needing a separate screening bucket for each excavator.

First rent, then invest

The purchase is a good example of how a rental period can be used to test a piece of equipment under actual working conditions. After several successful rental projects, ECG knew exactly which configuration was needed for its specialist operations.
